Gestorías in Torrevieja — Admin Services for Expats

A gestoría is a uniquely Spanish institution — a licensed administrative agency that handles official paperwork on your behalf. Think of them as a cross between an accountant, a solicitor's assistant, and a professional bureaucracy navigator. For expats, they are invaluable.

Why use a gestor rather than doing it yourself?

The Spanish bureaucracy is genuinely complex. Forms are in Spanish, websites have technical issues, appointment availability is limited, and the consequences of errors can mean months of delays. For your first year in Spain especially, a gestor pays for itself many times over in saved time and avoided mistakes.

  • Appointment access. Gestors often have professional access to appointment slots before they open to the public — particularly useful for NIE appointments which fill within minutes.
  • Power of attorney. Your gestor can handle almost everything on your behalf once you grant power of attorney — meaning you do not need to be present at government offices.
  • Tax compliance. If you become a Spanish tax resident, missing deadlines or filing incorrectly can result in substantial fines.
  • Language barrier. If your Spanish is limited, a gestor handles all communication in Spanish on your behalf.

What to look for in a gestor

  • English-speaking (or at minimum, someone bilingual in the team)
  • Experienced with expats — not all gestors are familiar with arriving foreigners' specific situations
  • Transparent pricing — ask for a written quote before committing
  • Established local presence — look for reviews in expat groups

Gestor vs lawyer

Use a gestor for standard administrative tasks: NIE, padrón, driving licence, annual tax filings, car registration. Use a lawyer (abogado) for legal advice, property purchase, will preparation, inheritance, company disputes. Some firms offer both services under one roof.
